Il nostro Progetto!

29 Giugno sera...gli amici e i parenti già da qualche ora hanno iniziato a tornare verso casa, chi più vicino nelle pianure Romagnole, chi tra le valli di Bèrghem, chi in destinazioni esotiche come il Belgio o la Germania...insomma ognuno dopo una grande festa (speriamo!) è pronto a tornare alla sua quotidianità.

E noi?!?!

NOI NO! =) In fondo come dice il saggio, ci si sposa solo 3 o 4 volte nella vita (scherziamo genitori, saremo uni e indivisibili!), quindi non potremmo neanche lontanamente pensare di tornare alla quotidianità prima di esserci imbarcati in un'indimenticabile avventura di viaggio, un viaggio di quelli veri, in grado di lasciare un segno che Seichelles o Maldive non saprebbero disegnare nell'anima.

Qualche tempo fà, tra fogli di partecipazioni e vestiti da sposa/o, ci siamo trovati un po' per gioco a pensare al viaggio di nozze...mare, sole, ombrelloni...o forse qualcosa in più. Ci abbiamo pensato e ripensato, prendendo coscienza del desiderio che questo viaggio non fosse un'altra vacanza tropicale ma qualcosa di più significativo, l'inizio di qualcosa di importante, il primo passo insieme verso qualcosa di grande! Da lì la decisione è stata breve e in un mare di idee e sorrisi abbiamo intuito che la scelta non eravamo noi a farla, ma che era lì già da tempo ad aspettarci, pronta a metterci alla prova e stupirci: l'Africa. E allora abbiamo deciso di trasformare il nostro viaggio in un progetto di scoperta, di noi stessi e di chi ci sta intorno.

E allora? Allora organizziamo un viaggio in Africa che ci permetta di scoprire, ma anche di aiutare e di trasformare una visita in un'esperienza unica. Chiediamo a tutti gli invitati e a chi vorrà di aiutarci a organizzare questo viaggio e ci impegniamo fin da subito ad utilizzare almeno il 30% di quello che raccoglieremo in un progetto tangibile. L'obiettivo non sarà solo quello di andare di persona a "consegnare" questo contributo, ma di riuscire ad immergerci davvero nella realtà della cooperazione sul territorio (l'altra faccia del nostro lavoro nella lontana e caotica Bruxelles) e di creare legami che possano durare nel tempo, con un accordo non scritto ma reale di tenere vivo questo nostro impegno.

IL PROGETTO!

Cosa abbiamo in mente?! In verità la nostra idea di progetto è ancora in fase di definizione, ma sappiamo che ci piacerebbe creare un “ponte” umano tra la nostra realtà italiana e il paese in cui andremo. Cerchiamo di spiegarci meglio.

Il parroco che celebrerà il nostro matrimonio, Don Mino, è una giovane forza della natura che dirige da qualche anno un grande centro ad Arese (fuori Milano) che ospita e offre formazione professionale a ragazzi con passati (e talvolta presenti) complicati. Questi ragazzi studiano per imparare un mestiere (elettricista, meccanico, agronomo, etc) e l'obiettivo del centro è quello di garantire loro un futuro onesto e soddisfacente. La maggior parte di loro non è mai uscita dall'Italia e forse avrà poche occasioni per farlo in futuro.

In Etiopia, in particolare a Soddo (a sud del Paese), ci sono varie organizzazioni che supportano principalmente attività di formazione e di microfinanza (GMA) e che Silvia e la sua famiglia conoscono bene.

Da qui la nostra idea di progetto: in collaborazione con Don Mino, vorremmo mettere in contatto queste due realtà cosi distanti ma cosi simili (Arese e Soddo). Vorremmo sponsorizzare il viaggio a Soddo di un piccolo gruppo di ragazzi di Arese con lo scopo di farli lavorare insieme ai ragazzi etiopi per promuovere uno scambio professionale e ovviamente sociale. Noi ci metteremo a disposizione per l’organizzazione logistica, traduzioni e anche bassa manovalanza! 

Siccome speriamo di poter raccogliere una cifra significativa, il resto del contributo raccolto vorremmo destinarlo, attraverso il GMA, ad alcuni gruppi di donne che grazie alla microfinanza cercano di dar vita a nuove realtà imprenditoriali a livello locale.

IL VIAGGIO!

Abbiamo chiarito che tutto inizia in Etiopia, almeno per una decina di intense e speriamo bellissime giornate, ma poi...il nostro viaggio dove continuerà? Dove andremo di preciso? 
La verità è che così di preciso non lo sappiamo ancora, ma per rendere un po' l'idea....alle mappe e alle guide!! Dopo i primi 10 giorni in Etiopia a Soddo, ritorneremo ad Addis Abeba e da lì prenderemo un aereo (in teoria uno dei pochi del viaggio) per il Kenya. Avremo davanti a noi una bella scelta a quel punto, e quello che sappiamo per ora è che l'obiettivo è... raggiungere il Sud Africa!

Numero di Paesi che visiteremo: da uno a 11...chi lo sa?;

Mezzi di trasporto: bus, treno, carovana, motoslitta (questa in realtà mi sa di no), camelli e qualunque altra cosa si muova;

Pernottamenti: di tutto un po', però almeno una bella notte a Zanzibar la includiamo!

Tempo di percorrenza previsto: suspance....ohohohohohohoh......almeno 6 settimane =)

Non è molto, ma questo è quello che sappiamo per ora, le guide sono appena arrivate e siamo in pieno studio, ma potete star certi che sarete i primi a ricevere le nostre newsletter giornaliere sugli sviluppi!! =)

ENGLISH VERSION

29th June, evening…friends and relatives are already heading back home, some to the close-by plains of Romagna, some to the Nordic valleys of Bergamo, some other to more exotic destinations like Belgium or Germany...in other words, after a big party (we hope so!) everyone is ready to get back to his/her daily life.

And what about us?!?!

We are not! =) As the wise man says, you get married only 3 or 4 times in your life (parents, we are kidding, we’ll be one and inseparable!), so we could definitely not think of getting back to our daily life before having put ourselves on an unforgettable adventurous journey, one of those real journeys, able to leave a mark that the Seichelles or Maldives could never draw in your soul.

Some time ago, immersed in invitations’ papers and bride’s/groom’s dresses, we found ourselves joking and thinking about the honeymoon…sea, sun, beach umbrella…or maybe something more. We thought and thought over it, slowly realizing that we don’t want this journey to be another tropical escapade but something more meaningful, the start of something important, the first step together toward something great! From this, the choice was somehow easy and between thousands of ideas and laughs we understood that we were not the ones making the choice, it was already there waiting for us, ready to test us and surprise us: Africa. We thus decided to transform our journey into a walk for discovering us and those around us.

And so, how to do this? We organize a travel through Africa that allows us to discover but also to help and transform our trip there into a unique experience. We ask all the guests and whoever wants to support us in organizing this journey and we commit ourselves to use at least 30% of what we will collect for a tangible project. The objective would not only be that of “delivering” in person the collected contribution, but be able to be part of the reality of local cooperation for development (the other side of the coin with respect to our jobs in the far and chaotic Brussels) and to create bonds that can endure in the years, with an unwritten but firm commitment of keeping these bonds alive.

                          

THE PROJECT!

What do we have in mind?! To be sincere our project idea is still a work-in-progress, but we know we'd like to create a human "bridge" connecting our italian reality and the one of the countries we'll visit. Let's try to explain this in more details.

The priest who will be celebrating our wedding, Don Mino, is a young force of nature who directs since few years a large center in Arese (Milan) hosting and granting vocational training to young people with a complex past (and often present). These guys study with the objective to learn a job (electrician, mechanic, agronomist, etc) and the objective of the center is to give the the opportunity to leave a honest and satisfactory life. The majority of these guys have never left Italy, and will have not many occasion to do so in the future.

In Ethiopia, more specifically in Soddo (south of the country), there are some organizations that work in education and microfinance (GMA), well known to Silvia and her family.

Our idea starts here: in cooperation with Don Mino, we would like to bridge the reality of Arese and the one of Soddo, so far and still so similar in some aspects. We would like to sponsor the travel to Soddo of a small group of guys from Arese, have them work together with their Ethiopian peers and promote among them a professional and social exchange. From our side, we'll make ourselves available for logostics, translation and any sort of  unskilled labour they could need! 

We hope not to end here, and if we will be able to raise what we expect to (and will depend also on you!) the unspent part of this contribution will be intended, through GMA, for women groups that thanks to microfinance are able to build new entrepreneurial activities at local level.

THE JOURNEY!

We have now clarified that everything will start in Ethiopia, at least for a dozen of intense and hopefully wonderful days, but then...where will our journey bring us? Where will we go exactly? The reality is that we still don’t know it such in detail but, to give at least a general hint…open your maps and travel guides! After the first 10 days in Soddo we'll go back to Addis Abeba and there we'll jump on a plane (in theory one of the few of the whole trip) to Kenya. We'll have in  front of us a great deal of choices, and what we know for now is that our objective will be...reach South Africa!

Number of countries we’ll cross: from 1 to 11, who knows?

Travel arrangements: bus, trains, caravan, snowmobile (we don’t believe this will really be needed!), camels and whatever else is moving!

Night stays: whatever we find, but at least a nice evening at Zanzibar will be included!

Foreseen time of stay: suspense…ohohohohohohohohoh…at least 6 weeks =)

Happiness: on top!

It is not much, but this is what we know up to now, we just received the guidebooks and we started to study them; you can be sure you’ll be the first ones receiving our periodic newsletters!! =)
